Photosynthesis: Oh good old 6CO2 + 6H2O —-> C6H12O6 + 6O2 another incredibly important part of the whole gardening biz. This process brings life to all our plant material and causes our designs to bloom and grow.
Seasons: We are so very thankful for seasons! Even though they may not be as stable as we would like here in Nebraska, we love the change and variety seasons bring. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter; there is always something new to enjoy. Seasons also provide a fun challenge to our design team to create spaces with seasonal interest all year round. There is enough variety, yet consistency to admire each time of year in their own ways.
Soil: Don’t you dare reclassify this as dirt! Five year old boys with toy Tonka trucks are thankful for dirt; horticultural devotees like ourselves are thankful for S-O-I-L. Where would any gardener be without this glorious composite of minerals, organic matter, gases, liquids and other bits and bobs that help our plants grow! Soil is the base of any garden and the solid foundation for enjoying the great outdoors.
Spaces: Not being thankful for spaces would be like an artist not being thankful for a canvas, a performer not being thankful for a stage, or a chef not being thankful for a kitchen. Spaces are where the magic happens. Great spaces are where we draw our inspiration and where we ourselves go to experience the natural world around us. We love to dwell in comfortable spaces and do our best, through solid design practices, to create comfortable spaces for you.
Solutions: More experiential than mathematical, these solutions we speak of are the very gardens you enjoy. The almost perfect combination of color, aromas, function, design, and beauty all wrapped up into one home-run of an idea. We are thankful for our education, training, and mentors that helped us become solution creators and implementors. Joy abounds in solution generation at our office; high fives all around for designs that fit each and every one of a client’s needs while remaining simple and beautiful.
Plants: The very material that keeps us in business is sort of a given on this list; but plants are more to us than a vocational commodity. Plants challenge us, surprise us, and wow us with each of their unique characteristics. Plants aren’t just the bread and butter of a gardener’s Thanksgiving feast, they can be the pumpkin pie or green bean casserole too.
Moments: The oohs, the aahs, the this reminds me of statements. Though we are thankful for plants for reasons stated above, we are not in this for the endless summer hydrangeas or the purple petunias. No, we are not here to sell plants and put trees in holes. We are here to make moments, memories and experiences for our clients and staff. The first walk through a finished space with a client is one of those moments; taking in all the new spaces where they will create even more memories and moments for many years to come. Outdoor spaces and even individual plants can remind you of moments. The smell of cedar brings back memories of family camping trips, the fragrant lilac of your grandmother’s perfume, these moments is what we are all about and so very thankful for.
