Guy Behind the Garden: Kiril Mavrov | Kinghorn Gardens

Kiril1

Kiril  Mavrov, Project Manager

Joined the Team in September of 2001

On the job:

My day starts the day before with prep, planning and communicating, with the involved parties, about the best and most professional outcome that will move the project as expected.

Garden Guru from:

I graduated from University of Forestry in Sofia, Bulgaria with Master in Forestry.

Favorite plant:

Concolor fir; with delightful, silver, and green-bluish needles, this tree is so pretty and a nice addition to any landscape.

What does the purple polo mean to you?

The purple polo mean professionalism and pride of the product that we are creating.

Where did you get your green thumb?

When I was kid, I was doing experiments in a garden as a hobby. Miraculously, almost all of them were successful and I never stopped enjoying this. So my hobby become my job – how cool is that?

Your outdoor space:

My garden is a rescue garden. I like to give unwanted or damaged plants a second chance and, with some care and love, they become as pretty as they can be.

Hidden talent:

I played soccer and I was quite good at it.

Favorite food:

Nothing is better than a fresh apple from a tree.

Hobbies:

With two teens, there are too many school and after school activities, but still a little time for a walk in the park or some fishing.

Favorite TV show:

Anything with sports.

Gotta-have-it gardening tool:

My preferences are pruners and a shovel.

Most important part of the garden:

THE GARDENER.

At work warm and fuzzy:

When you see the happiness and appreciation on clients’ faces.

Least favorite garden critter:

I really don’t like Japanese beetles.

Favorite gardening quote:

“Gardening is not our whole life, but it makes our life whole.”
