3 Indestructible Interiors | Kinghorn Gardens

Have you noticed how trendy house plants are these days? From West Elm to IKEA its all about the green. Air plants, fiddle-leaf fig trees, and cacti galore star on the cover of home and garden magazines as well as interior design Pinterest boards.

So you want to jump on the indoor chlorophyll train, but your last three pet plants you have – may they rest in peace – succumbed to an early demise due to lack of water or perhaps TOO much TLC. We sat down with our resident interior plant expert, Jen Thiele, to find three virtually indestructible plants for your home. Fear not trend seeker, you are just one blog read away from a chlorophyll-filled Instagram post featuring your new houseplant.

Philodendron

  • Quickly adapts to most environments and frequency of care
  • Great educator for new plant enthusiasts; philodendron will show signs of improper care, and will quickly rebound once corrected
  • Fast grower – will quickly grow back from drastic cutbacks and pest/disease recovery

Philodendro

Aspidistra Elatior – Cast Iron Plant

  • Requires less care – doesn’t need much water
  • Can survive in extreme environments; can tolerated low to bright lights and hot to quite cold temperatures
  • Naturally pest and disease resistant

Zamioculas Zamiifolia  – ZZ Plant

  • Known for its ability to withstand drought
  • Rebounds quickly from overwatering if corrected
  • Grows slowly – less trimming needed to maintain size
