Wintergreens serve as one of our last big landscaping hoorays before we start the countdown to spring 2015. Fresh cut greens announce the season of winter and help us celebrate the many holidays that these cold months bring. After researching trends in holiday decor, winter retail and all things red, green and snowflaked, we focused in on three themes to carry our designs thorough the holidays; Fresh Traditions, Vintage Flair and Peaceful Nights.
Color team members, Adam and Jen touched on a little bit of the inspiration for each theme in their video Wintergreens 2014.
So for our first theme we landed on Fresh Traditions. As our designers sat around the table with holiday on the mind, we shared stories of our family traditions and those we planned to carry on with our own children. Fresh Traditions are a great way to incorporate the warmth of traditional holidays with cool modern elements. This theme includes the following buzzwords of inspiration:
Burlap, eucalyptus, ombre, customized, traditional, metallic, ribbon, alternative holiday colors, monochromatic, color-blocking, and birch logs.
This is an easy theme to pull off because all you have to do is think of your favorite holiday tradition and add a modern twist. We took this formula and recreated the traditional fireplace kindling bucket but freshened it with a casual composition and large warm lights.
